Women's Resource & Empowerment Center - Homeless But Not Helpless
  Women's Resource and Empowerment Center
A subsidiary of the center for Environmental and Economic Justice, Inc. (a non-profit 501(c) 3) was formed in response to the lack of adequate shelters for women.
The WREC objective is to help women move from homelessness to self-sufficiency.  In exchange for rent/utility-free housing, residents are required to work full-time, adhere to program guidelines and attend volunteer taught classes in life skills, budgeting, computer skills training, employment and community living.
                                 About Us
Faith Tabernacle of Praise (FTOP) continually sees this scenario along the Gulf Coast.  For over 15 years we've been helping women and women with children by providing them food, clothing, rental assistance, and assistance with utilities.  Oftentimes we found ourselves helping many women that found themselves homeless and apparently helpless.
As a result of the lack of adequate shelters for women along the Gulf Coast, Pastor James Black and his wife Bobbie Black, Chair of the Faith Tabernacle Of Praise Women's Department-W.I.N.G.S (Women Interested In Growing Spiritually) opened a Home that shelters homeless women and homeless women with children (12yrs and younger).
